The Mind Care team of SPITEX BERN consists of specially trained experts, who support and care for people with mental illnesses and/or dementia in the comfort of the patient’s own home. They are available to customers and their friends and family and help develop a sustainable and continual relationship. These are thus given the opportunity to lead as normal a life as possible, within the constraints of their illness.
Philosophy and goals
To be able to provide professional and high-quality support and care, the opinions as well as the appreciation and goals of our customers and their friends and family are important to us. They are involved when planning the support and care to be provided. Due to the symptoms of their illness, people with mental illnesses and dementia require more time to adjust to changes. SPITEX BERN therefore operates with a focus on its customers. Spitex staff are available to the customers and their friends and family in order to develop a sustainable and continual relationship. Customers affected, as well as their friends and family, are thus given the opportunity to lead as normal a life as possible, within the constraints of their illness.

What does Mind Care cover?
- The uniform and competent care of people with dementia or mental illness in their familiar surroundings
- Support and relief in mastering the activities of daily life (incl. household and hygiene)
- Development of a supportive daily and weekly structure with the goal of a good social network
- Support of the independence of our customers and their friends and family, to the extent possible
- Instruction and information of customers and their friends and family with regard to the illness and mediation of supportive measures
- Support in dealing with and handling the drugs prescribed
- Incorporation and consideration of the requests and expectations toward the support and care to be provided, insofar as they correspond with the mission of SPITEX BERN
- Discussion of the specific care situation with family and friends
- Relief of family and friends with regard to support and care provided
- Prevention of critical situations and overexertion
- Support in crises and in cases of overexertion
