Nursing Care – At home and in good hands

The Spitex organisation of the City of Berne is committed to providing support to and maintaining the quality of life of people of all ages who suffer from an illness, a handicap or frail or convalescing.

Basic nursing care

  • Assistance with dressing and undressing
  • Help with eating and drinking
  • Assistance with oral and personal hygiene
  • Putting to bed, positioning
  • Physical exercises, mobility
  • Prevention of bed sores, skincare
  • Bandaging of legs, putting on and taking off compressional stockings
  • Help with having a bath or shower assistance

Therapeutical nursing

  • Monitoring of vital parameters (pulse, blood pressure, etc.)
  • Measurement of blood and urine sugar levels
  • Administration of medication
  • Wound care
  • All types of injections

Clarification

  • Clarification of the level of nursing and assistance required with doctors and relatives, etc.
  • Clarification with other institutions (e.g. Pro Senectute) that are already involved or becoming involved with nursing care

Instruction

  • Instructions on how to handle equipment and other aids
  • Instructions on how to perform tasks such as the self-injection of insulin or how to use urethral catheters

Counsultation

  • Counselling and support in the final stages of life / dying at home
  • Health advice
  • Contact point for questions regarding relatives as care providers
  • Counselling if problems arise concerning excretions and the use of incontinence products

We offer nursing services from Monday through Sunday around the clock.
